Workshop Rewind – Session IEye Doctor Exam

Which is more clear…

#1…#2…#1…#2?

As you’re reading through the Word this coming year, here’s a quick suggestion from a previous workshop post called Love Who With All My Heart?

If you’ve never been a student of the emotions of God, I highly recommend it!  The first time  someone suggested this I remember thinking, “God + Emotions = ??? “  I’d never thought about it, I guess.

I had never looked.

It’s like looking deeply into the Names of God to see His heart, His motivation and His connection with my heart.  I’ve been completely undone more than once…He is love.

Discovery Toys “Toy Sort”

This was so funny to me and maybe only me but here it is…

I went to a kid’s fair last weekend.  The kind where several booths are set up offering free this-or-that’s but mostly armloads of candy to draw the kids.

The Discovery Toy booth caught my attention so I picked up a catalog.  Toward the back, they offered a five step solution to the problem, “My kids have too many toys!”  [Translation: my kids are board, lack motivation and seem uninterested in more of the same.]  Of course the motivation of Discovery Toys is to help parents make room for more toys but in light of recent posts, I saw it as the parody that follows:

TOY SORT – ADULT SIZE according to I Corinthians 13:11-13

“When I was a child, I spoke like a child, I thought like a child, I reasoned like a child.  When I became a man, I gave up childish ways.  For now we see in a mirror dimly, but then face to face.  Now I know in part; then I shall know fully, even as I have been fully known.  So now faith, hope, and love abide, these three; but the greatest of these is love.”

1. Review - The Educational Consultant [Holy Spirit] will help you determine how to find the ‘toy keepers’ [those things that delight and enrich your heart] and the ‘toys you can do without’ piles [those things that put your heart to sleep or worse].  This reveals how your child plays [true- how I spend my free time, money, energy is revealing].  This step sounds simple but the reason there are so many toys is that nothing has ever been put away after a child outgrows it.  (Ah, a Toy Sort is clearly what Paul was referring to in this passage!)

2.  Edit - Toys are sorted [inventory of where my time, money, energy etc. goes is a powerful thing to do].  Toys are packed away that are not age appropriate [the moment of truth, do I want to continue to spend my resources this way?] and passed along or stored [where I store my stuff and for which "age" are very important keys to my heart day-to-day].

3.  OrganizeToy storage is an important component of the Toy Sort.  Having things categorized [Yikes! Unholy, Common or Holy?] and having a place for each toy is highly beneficial for the child [This reminds me of the verse about "where my storage is, there will my heart be also.  If I keep needing more and more storage it's not a good thing for my heart].

4.  RecommendDT consultants [Holy Spirit] really come in handy here!  They will help guide you to the next fun toy [He will guide us into all Truth so that we delight ourselves in knowledge of God.  Like the angels around His throne we'll say, "Holy! Holy! Holy! Meaning, "That's who You are? WOW!"   "That's who You are? WOW!"   "That's who You are? WOW!" once we see Him clearly.  We will willingly trade our lesser religious toys for a fascinated heart!]

5.  BenefitThe goal of the Toy Sort Service is for parents and children to feel good about their playtime together.  ["This is eternal life", Jesus said, "to know the Father and the One whom He has sent."  Nothing can be more enjoyable, we were made for this revelation!]

Created for more than this…

BrickMakingLet My people go!

mud, mud pies, muddy life…..make bricks, brick walls, brick buildings…

Mud Pies & Gravity
“…that our Lord finds our desires not too strong, but too weak. We are half-hearted creatures, fooling about with drink and sex and ambition when infinite joy is offered us, like an ignorant child who wants to go on making mud pies in a slum because he cannot imagine what is meant by the offer of a holiday at sea. We are far too easily pleased.” C.S. Lewis The Weight of Glory

Mud pies…that’s the essence of gravity.

“When I was a child, I spoke as a child, I thought like a child, I reasoned like a child.  When I became a man, I gave up childish ways.”  I Cor 13:11

Identity as a child of God changes everything!  Beloved children….

Defying  Gravity looks like…Sunrise_over_Jerusalem

“If then you have been raised with Christ, seek the things that are above, where Christ is, seated at the right hand of God.  Set your minds on things that are above, not on things that are on earth.  For you have died, and your life is hidden with Christ in God.  When Christ who is your life appears, then you also will appear with Him in glory. ..”

“Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly…

HOW?

  • teaching

  • admonishing one another in all wisdom

  • singing psalms & hymns

  • and spiritual songs with thankfulness in your hearts to God (v 16-17)

“Put to death therefore what is earthly in you: sexual immorality, impurity, passion, evil desire, and covetousness, which is idolatry.  On account of these the wrath of God is coming.  In these you too once walked, when you were living in them.  But now you must put them all away: anger, wrath, malice, slander, and obscene talk from your mouth.  Do not lie to one another, seeing that you have put off the old self with its practices and have put on the new self, which is being renewed in knowledge after the image of its creator.”

It’s Not About Filling the Chairs

After the opening of the Prayer Room here in Colorado Springs this month, no one will EVER be able to convince me that the prayers of weak, broken people don’t matter to God.EHC Prayer Grottos  I mean really weak prayers like, “Help us!”

They reach heaven - in a mighty way!

“Give ear to my words, O LORD; consider my groaning.  Give attention to the sound of my cry, my King and my God, for to You do I pray.  O LORD, in the morning You hear my voice; in the morning I prepare a sacrifice for You and watch.”  Psalm 5:1-3

Not only do weak prayers matter but very small numbers get His attention too! I mean really small numbers ”where two or three are gathered.”

Spending time in the Fire…Rev 3:18Dross Sucks Small

I’ve been meeting for a few months now with some wonderful women.  We’ve been seeking the Lord according to I Corinthians 14:29-32.  We basically use a whiteboard and worship to a CD taking turns writing down the thoughts that come to our mind and sorting it all out at the end.

The flow has been different but the theme stays the same – REVIVAL!  It’s all about the Harvest Field right now.

That’s a great fit because our new church (click here) is about the Harvest Field too.  Gary Wilkerson comes from World Challenge so he and his staff seem to see most everything through that paradigm.  I think it’s a great collaboration with the Holy Spirit!

So, I’m asking the Lord of the Harvest to connect my heart with His Harvest Field and I plan to continue to work that out here on Defy Gravity in the days to come.

Evangelists and intercessors are forever co-laborers (Matthew 9:37-38).  One works in the heavenlies to remove spiritual mountains and the  other moves to touch rock-hard hearts on the earth.

“Prepare the way of the Lord!”

I’ve been reading Leonard Ravenhill’s book Revival God’s Way “A Message for the Church” in my journey.   Here is a question he poses, “There were 120 men and women in the Upper Room, and (without our electronic media, our gospel printing houses, 100,000 preachers, Bible schools, etc.) they ’turned the world upside down…’ Where is the Salt?”

I want to pray for those in the field to see the Word of the Lord confirmed and as I go into the field, I want to lay hands on the sick and see them healed in the name of Jesus, bind up the broken-hearted and set the captives free.  Basically, Justice in every arena.   I want to be Salt and Light when I go.   I want to be a part of a REAL history-making revival in my generation!
